Housing Corporation Board Visits Manchester Housing Regeneration Schemes

The Board of The Housing Corporation, the Government’s national affordable housing agency, has been given a guided tour of several Manchester Neighbourhoods which are benefiting from millions of pounds of public and private investment. The Corporation has invested nearly £45 in housing in Manchester in the past two years.

The tour took in:

  • The transformation of the Plymouth Grove/Stockport Road area of Ardwick, led by Grove Village Ltd.
  • The pioneering New East Manchester, hosted by Manchester Methodist Housing Association.
  • Willow Park Housing Trust’s regeneration work in Wythenshawe.
  • Mosscare Housing Association’s renovation work on the Footballers Estate, Moss Side.

John Carleton, The Housing Corporation’s North Director, said: “Today we visited four contrasting neighbourhoods which share in common a drive to leave behind their unenviable recent history and to become extraordinary places where people will be queuing-up to live. I am delighted to have had the opportunity to show our colleagues the real impact of the Housing Corporation’s funding on local communities in Manchester”
