Green Route

Work to transform the old estate layout is having a big impact. A new, tree-lined avenue called the Green Route, complete with recreational areas and traffic calming, has begun to wend its way through the whole estate.

Giving pedestrians priority, the Green Route forms an attractive and safe east-west central spine for pedestrians, cyclists and cars.

All residential streets to the north or south of this are also traffic calmed and benefit from appropriate hard and soft landscaping.

The previous rat-run of alleyways behind people’s homes is also gradually disappearing, as gardens are extended to reclaim this space for residents.

Working with the community

Community Community

The relationship with the community is one that all consortium members have worked hard on.

From the start tenants and residents have been involved in the new design of the estate through planning exercises and open days. Tenants continue to be involved in the ongoing development of the estate.

Local people are kept up-to-date with progress through regular newsletters, and a monitoring panel that meets frequently with residents. There is a strong, highly dedicated tenant and residents group within the estate, which feeds information to us at Grove Village.

Involvement in wider community life includes supporting the local youth football team and organising coach trips for elderly tenants.
